A Letter To Santa

Dear Santa,

I don’t have a Christmas tree,
but would you leave some Boost for me?
You could leave it at my door.
I promise I’ve been good and I won’t ask for more.

You don’t have to fill my stocking,
Or read a pleading note.
I don’t want a car, a fur,
Or something that will float.

The cards fell wrong and I’m alone.
It’s now my way of life.
But, once I was a mother.
Once I was a wife.

I won’t ask for company,
For there’s nobody left.
I will be okay though,
I will not be bereft.

I will not ask for calls or texts,
I know they will not come.
They will go to someone else,
So I’ll pretend I’m numb.

A case of Boost is all I want.
It’s full of nutrients.
Please don’t deny my only wish,
Or show insouciance.

If you would only bring some Boost,
I’ll have a happy day.
I’ll drink it while I reminisce,
And pass the time away.

You don’t need to wrap it,
Or add a big red bow.
When I awake on Christmas morn,
From who it is, I’ll know.

I’ve never stopped believing,
And I will be right here.
So, while you’re loading up your sleigh,
Would you remember me this year?

  1. Enjoy – whatever you have for beverage and indulge those calories!! Plenty of us out here wish we could afford it (weight wise) but can’t. Isn’t Boost supposed to have lots of vitamins and minerals to go along with the calories and high sugar? That’s gotta be good for one, right? I never know. I LOVED the poetry and with your permission would like to share it with a ‘adult orphan’ group I’m part of? And surely he will remember you on Christmas Eve…Santa is magical that way! ❀ Happy Holidays sweetie and you're NEVER ALONE (is that creepy??) There's lots of us out here – a whole community of lone individuals. I say "I am alone, but I am NOT lonely". Big difference. Take care!

    • It’s supposed to have vitamins and minerals but my doctor told me three years ago that I couldn’t live on it. (I’ve been doing a pretty good job of it so far.)
You can certainly share my post. I understand how you can be alone and not lonely. I was more lonely when I thought I was married….but I was lonely for an actual husband. I hope the holidays are happy for you.
I’m going to curl up in my chair and spend the day with Wentworth. (I can dream, can’t I?) LOLOL

  2. I’m not Liking the fact you want a high-sugar, high-calorie drink for Christmas but Liking your wordsmithery! Surely you could come up with something that will truly nourish you, body and soul? For now, here are some flowers, some fruit and a smoothie! πŸ’πŸŒΊπŸŒΌπŸŒΈπŸ“πŸ‡πŸ₯πŸΉ
